Pardon sought for ex-CIA officer in leak case

The wife of an ex-CIA officer convicted of leaking classified information called Thursday for a presidential pardon, saying the case was part of a stealth war on the news media.

Holly Sterling, wife of former CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling, made the appeal to President Barack Obama at a Washington news conference, flanked by members of activist groups supporting press freedom and government "whistleblowers."

Sterling was sentenced in May to 3.5 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of leaking classified information to a New York Times journalist.
