Nineteen Bronx cops hit with administrative charges for downgrading crime reports: officials

Nineteen Bronx cops downgraded more than 50 crime reports last year, leading to an inflated statistical drop in crime, officials said Friday.

The NYPD’s Department Advocate is filing charges against one lieutenant, eight sergeants, nine police officers and one detective, police said. The 40th Precinct’s commanding officer was transferred from his post because of the findings.
